In this touching act of commitment, one wife prays outside of a hospital every day for her sick husband who is fighting COVID-19.
Michelle Gutierrez has spent the last 4 weeks outside of the St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston praying for a miracle for her husband, David. He has been in the ICU battling COVID-19 and is now on life support and in a coma. Even though her husband may not know that his wife is outside the hospital praying for him every evening, that does not stop her from showing up every night.
“God is going to hear our prayer,” Michelle says as she looks up at the hospital windows where her husband is. “I’m here, just as I promised you, that I would be here at 7pm. So, I’m here my love.”
Michelle also writes a letter to her husband every morning, beginning it with “Good morning, Sunshine.” All of her letters have been delivered to David’s bedside.
When David was admitted to the hospital back in July, he was in critical condition.
“I said, ‘You know, honey, I am going to be here with you every single night until you get out of this hospital,’” Michelle shared. “His last words to me were, ‘I love you. I love you. See you soon.’”
Michelle’s dedication and love to her husband really show that she meant her wedding vows when she said “for better or for worse, in sickness and in health.” May God provide her with the peace and comfort that she needs during this time, and may her prayers for her husband to recover be answered!
