This DIY Backyard Pergola With Swings And Fire Pit Is The Perfect Piece For Friends And Family

What’s more hypnotic than staring into a bonfire on a starlit night in the great outdoors? How about the mesmerising sway of a hanging chair? Smash these two ideas together and you get the latest creation from Farm blogger and Instagrammer Lauren Ashworth. Her gorgeous fire pit pergola went viral on Facebook and Instagram, and after some serious interest from fans to replicate the idea in their own back yards, she shared instructions on how to build the structure to the blog Remodelaholic.

All you’ll need to boast your very own backyard pergola just like Ashworth’s, is a couple of strong people, a couple of grand and a couple of days.  It was mentioned that the pergola can be set up with two able bodies, but in the pictures its noted that some machinery was used to pick up some of the top pieces. I suppose if you have a fabulous bright red digger loader you may be tempted to use it just for the fun of it. If you don’t happen to have a digger loader you could always skip your CrossFit session, team up and chuck some planks up with each clap of a burpee. oh, you’ll benefit from a few power tools and maybe a ladder too.

The entire project, which costs around $2 300 in total does mean you’ll have to have some spare cash laying around for entertainment purposes, but this initial layout can be seen as an investment in many fun evenings outdoors with friends and family in times to come. If you want to cut down on costs a little you could scrap the Adirondack chairs which cost a minimum of $300, and the string lights which cost $75 (But they do add a certain charm don’t they?)

What’s more fun than winding down indoors after your barbecue with a good movie?  Winding down outdoors with a good movie! The pergola can include a wide frame, which costs $125, in which a stretch fabric screen can be used to project movies while you enjoy summer to the max!

Ashworth certainly has inspired us to spend more time outdoors. Even if  you don’t happen to live on a farm or have the space required for this stunning pergola, perhaps shared apartment grounds or community parks may be a great place to set up something like this to encourage outdoor fun for the whole family.

They also have plans for an outdoor screen where you can project movies or music videos while you hang out by the fire. It consists of a rectangular wooden frame with outdoor fabric stretched and secured to the rear facing side. Estimated cost for this add-on is right around 125 bucks.
